App Reviews

Disappointingly, there are no good apps to help control iPhones, so when we saw this one with rave reviews, we were excited. We’ve been using this app for about a month on iPhones. So far, we’ve had a terrible time installing it on our sons’ phones, had a terrible time trying to set and monitor apps, and had a terrible time with my phone randomly shutting off access to one of the controlled phones. The set up instructions took us days to figure out and finalize, and my wife and I are both college educated people. She is also very technologically savvy, and this blew both our minds. I wanted to add that my wife tried to contact support while setting up the phones, and they did respond, but it was more than a week later. It takes SIX HOURS for any sort of back up to happen to get text messages, and therefore has only been performed once. I understand that some of the problems we have are are due to Apple’s limitations on third party apps. But, it’s still annoying. We’ve had the app installed on our sons’ phones for several weeks. Today, one of my son’s phones just disappeared. Then, it says we need to finish setting up their phone. IT WAS DONE! How could it suddenly need to be set up again. There are two things I see as good here. One, I can set a block of time that the phones don’t work, so I shut it down at night. Second, they just added control for individual apps.

My son figured out how to erase the profile on his phone in less than an hour. There’s no way to block him from doing it even with restrictions. Disappointed.
  • Had nothing but problems the second day

First I was expecting to tap on this app and be able to see GPS and Text message history, nope not possible. The app is only used to pass, change or restrict use on your child’s phone. To monitor GPS location, text messages, internet activity, etc. you have to use an internet service. Yes that isn’t bad, I agree, so I have to click on a different app so what. Second every time I pause or change setting on my child’s phone it resets his phone. Puts iPhone apps back on he has deleted, and reset the appearance of his phone. I purchased the subscription to try to help him not make things more stressful on him. Third, the second day I tried to use the monitoring portion (GPS location and text message) the website told me his iPhone find was not on or his location services was not on. I call BS on this because I was sitting right by him and tested it out when I knew everything was on and it still didn’t work. Than when I called customer service they told me I was using Safari Internet browser when I know for a fact I wasn’t. I had downloaded Chrome and Firefox, neither of them worked. The first day was great but I have cancelled my subscription because Teensafe is nothing but a headache for me.
  • Worked for 3 days

Location and monitoring lasted for 3 days and just abruptly all stopped updating. Tried to troubleshoot with the very uneducated people at teensafe and just ended up cancelling. Waist of money.

I am very technically able in this software was horrible. I liked it when it worked, but every time you pull data from my child’s phone, she had to reset her iCloud password. Sometimes several times a day. It is a known issue that has not been fixed. I got a refund.

This is a great app for control my child’s device, but it takes for-freaking-EVER to open on mine. I don’t have that much patience, especially when I’m mad at my kid & turning off her phone. 😤
  • Pretty basic for what you’re paying

This app is great in its most basic functions but basic functionality is all it has! I loaded it specifically to shut face time down at my teens curfew every night but if she is on a call at the time, FT does not shut down when the phone is paused. Also, it will block apps but only by app rating. You cannot choose which apps you want to block. You can’t say, block Netflix but keep Google classroom because they’re both rated “12+”. The phone pause option is great but only works if both phones are on so I can’t power down my phone if I go to bed before she does. For what this app offers, it is probably worth paying about $3 per month, but $9.99? NO WAY! It’s a complete rip off for what you get. You can buy a years subscription to a top of the line phone spy service for the same price that will do everything BUT shut the phone down. It was a toss up at the time and I’m feeling like I made the wrong choice. I want to be able to go to bed and know that my teens curfew is being enforced. Frustrating!!!!

    1. Mistook my sons iPhone as iPad 2. Could never read deleted texts 3. Password and login problems 4. Said my account was inactive although iTunes account verified it was active and paid up 5. Even after updating iCloud backup, it could not read the old data The only thing that worked was pausing my sons phone, BUT... it reset all of his settings which caused even more tension between us. Don’t waste your time or money! I don’t know what is out there is better but this is not worth it. I hope I find something.
  • Has bugs

It is hard to use because of the bugs and it occasionally freezes out of of the blue it’s needed for teens and kids because it is just to keep them safe and sleeping I know I need it but it could be fixed
  • The pause feature is a great option instead of taking the phone away

In the past, taking away the phone as a punishment was just as much of a punishment for me as it was for the kids since I no longer had a way to get in touch with them if necessary. The pause feature makes it so easy to turn the phone into simply a phone - no other functionality available. Now they still get grounded from the phone and mom & dad can still get in touch with them. Parenting win.
