  • Unequaled Customer Support

Time for another update. Just got an immediate, expert response from Robin on the ForeFlight Pilot Support Team to a user error on my part. Just can't say enough good things about ForeFlight's Customer Service. ******* Update to Apr 12 review ******* I just got off the phone with Josh at ForeFlight. Josh helped work through a particularly difficult problem I was having on ForeFlight for iPhone. After spending about 30 minutes talking with me, including resolving an unrelated issue I was having, Josh answered all my additional questions and resolved both problems perfectly. Josh was cordial, professional, and an obvious expert in his field. I could not have been more pleased. ******* End update Apr 12 review ******* I am a CFII/MEI in Austin, Texas. I've been using ForeFlight for a couple of months now, and as a Flight Instructor it is my responsibility to be able to demonstrate all resources at my disposal to my flight students. Having looked at several hardware and software solutions before purchasing anything, I now consider my iPad Pro Mini (ForeFlight's suggestion) and ForeFlight Pro Plus to be the gold standard of EFB solutions. I have also been keeping the ForeFlight Customer Support Team extremely busy, because I ask a lot of questions. Their responses have always been prompt, courteous, and correct without exception. In my opinion, there is nothing more you can ask of a customer support operation. 4/26/17 Just an update on 9.0.1. Great upgrade. Nice additional features and touches. "Nearest" distance-ring feature is indispensable.
  • IOS only

This product is only available for IOS. So if you ever upgrade to a better tablet/phone this product is sadly not compatible. It would be a solid 4 in my books if I was able to run this app on better operating systems.
  • Jepp capability is awesome

Suggestions: The ability to 'swipe' through (from one to the next) plates in a Binder would be helpful. For Jepp-only users, a Setting to not show or offer for download Gov't terminal charts (Gov't approach plates) would be useful too.
  • Eclipse surprise!

I e-mailed ForeFlight support a couple of weeks ago about seeing the eclipse track on the ForeFlight Map page, and the response I got was excellent! They sent me a file I could load onto the map page and see the eclipse route, centerline, and times of passage. I flew about two hours and got under the eclipse path, and watched, with my passengers, as the shadow passed overhead; the data was perfect! I really appreciate the quick and customized response to my inquiry!

Really love this software. Had a few misfires with support not reading my question when a feature wasn't working but did eventually get a resolution.

I am a new user and a bit unusual in that I fly in Kenya. I found the world aeronautical chart and Africa terrain excellent and only wish that they had more airports in their database and included the elevation heights on hills and mountains. Based on my experience, I am switching over from Garmin Pilot, although I also still use Sky Demon, especially because of its large database of airports in Kenya. I had a few questions for technical support and always received a prompt response. In one instance, they corrected my draft Excel spreadsheet of flights so that it could be imported into Logbook. The technical team went out of its way to give me excellent support. Overall the program is terrific and the support outstanding. My only complaint is that the so-called free 30-trial version is so limited in its capabilities.
  • Email Support?? Apple Pencil?

Update: Issue resolved after 3 days of chain emails. Also, Apple Pencil compatibility is not optimized well with the sketch pad. For the prices of these subscriptions, there should at least be an instant chat support during business hours instead of email support. I feel like I'm being put on the back burner whenever I have a tech support issue/question that I have to send per email and wait for a response. I emailed support about merging an account and I got only one email back that did not satisfy my issue. Thank God the app works good for now because I'm not too confident in the support aspect of ForeFlight.
  • An update that did NOTHING...

Rarely do companies release an update that moves a product backwards. The new foreflight 8 provides little to no progress if any at all. The company has discussed for a long time their improved version 8 feature set however other than the aeronautical apps which are IMHO a less useful version of Jepps VFR/GPS maps, there appears to be little change. This all said, the most frustrating aspect is the customer service experience and their inability to implement feature requests. While they reply quickly to emails, their "experienced" technical team always provides the same answer that the feature request will be discussed. I realize that my specific requests are not the benchmark for change, though to release a new version with no apparent change and years of change requests by thousands of pilots, it seems that foreflight is content with simply being a media manager vs a ground breaker in the industry. I highly suggest looking at other options such as Aerovie prior to spending your money on foreflight until the company can recage and do what they did in their inception vs the stagnicity they demonstrated with their latest release.

Best app. So intuitive and easy to use. I have an SR22 and barely use the built in maps of the airplanes avionics
