App Description

AnkiMobile is a mobile companion to Anki, a powerful, intelligent flashcard program that is free, multi-platform, and open-source. Sales of this app support the development of both the computer and mobile version, which is why the app is priced as a computer application. AnkiMobile offers some features not found in other flashcard apps: - A free cloud synchronization service that lets you keep your card content synchronized across multiple mobile and computer devices. This makes it easy to add content on a computer and then study it on your mobile, easily keep your study progress current between an iPhone and iPad, and so on. - The same proven scheduling algorithm that the computer version of Anki uses, which reminds you of material as you're about to forget it. - A flexible interface designed for smooth and efficient study. You can set up AnkiMobile to perform different actions when you tap or swipe on various parts of the screen, and control which actions appear on the tool buttons. - Comprehensive graphs and statistics about your studies. - Support for large card decks - even 100,000+ cards. - If your cards use images or audio clips, the media is stored on your device, so you can study without an internet connection. - A powerful search facility that allows you to find cards that match criteria such as 'tagged high priority, answered in the last ten days and not containing the following words', and automatically place them into a deck to study. - Support for displaying mathematical equations that were added with LaTeX in the desktop software, and ruby text above Asian languages. Please note that AnkiMobile is currently intended as a companion to the computer version of Anki, rather than a complete replacement for it. While AnkiMobile is able to display your cards in the same way the computer version does, making changes to the appearance of cards and turning on options like 'type in the answer' currently needs to be done with the computer software. For this reason, please familiarize yourself with the computer version of Anki before you think about buying this app. Aside from the cloud synchronization service, AnkiMobile also supports copying decks to and from your device via the USB cable and iTunes. Like all apps, AnkiMobile can be purchased once and then used on multiple devices in a household using the same Apple ID. Family sharing is also supported. For information on bulk discounts for educational institutions, please see For more information on AnkiMobile, including a link to the online manual, please have a look at the support page: If you have any questions or want to report an issue, please let us know on our support site and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

App Reviews

  • Please fix this bug

    By snordoc
Normally, I don't spend more than $5 on an app. But this makes studying my Japanese cards so easy and convenient, and I've learned 900 characters because of Anki. 100% worth the $25, I use it every single day. However, I've recently encountered a bug that's making my studying difficult. After I learn a new card in review, instead of giving me that card again in 1 day, it's giving it to me in 10 days, meaning I can't go right back and review that card tomorrow. This could be because I'm learning 30 new characters a day, but that still doesn't justify such a long period between reviews. Please fix this as soon as possible.
  • Cloze deletions not working.

The computer version is excellent and it is super helpful. Decided to download the app. It said that all my cards including cloze would work. This is not the case all but the cloze deletions work. I may change my review if this gets fixed but as of now I'm disappointed I spent $25 and can't use 95% of my cards.
  • Very powerful

This is a great companion to Anki for desktop. It automatically synched all of my decks including the audio files and it even has a scratch pad that is great for practicing writing the answer if you are studying Chinese Mandarin or Japanese for example. I have been with Anki for desktop for a couple of years and I am very pleased with this app. Tiny suggestion though, it would be nice if it synched automatically when you stopped reviewing a deck.
  • Waste

You can't flip cards. Really no point. You're paying $25 just to see a bar graph of your progress. A waste. There are free apps that allow you to flip cards. Unbelievable
  • Really regret this

Download the free AnkiApp mobile app instead. That versions mobile and desktop app are much better and free. I only downloaded this by mistake. Hopefully this review saves a few people from doing the same.
  • The best way to learn information!

    By katydoci
This app is just amazing!! I imported a deck to help me study for an exam. The deck itself had over 2000+ cards but the app makes it manageable by giving you 20 cards a day to learn. You can switch up the parts of the card you want to be quizzed which stops you from just memorizing the answer and makes sure you learned all parts of it. Then decide whether you learned the material and don't want to see it for 4 days or if you need to try again in 1-10 minutes. I tried the desktop version first as it's free but in my opinion this app is simpler to navigate through. My only recommendation would be for a shorter manual or easier way of finding out all the features of this app. There are so many features and options to help make this app an amazing tool for studying.
  • THE app to get you through tough classes.

    By Scrappy 257
This app made studying much more efficient so that with minimal time for review I was acing all my exams. It helped me get into PA school. Although there is a learning curve to figure out how to make various types of cards, it blows paper flash cards out of the water. You can now have a deck of thousands of cards on you phone rather than hacking down a forest. For serious learners, get this app.
  • It's Anki, so it's great. One thing, though...

    By samedeepwaterasyou75
I use Anki to study Japanese, and there is ample reason for its popularity amongst Japanese learners. Unless I missed an update note, though, we still cannot generate Japanese readings from the mobile app. This makes card creation very slow and difficult because I need to get to computer to make or update a card. Really not convenient. This should be a priority fix.
  • Love anki

Anki has my butt in school and studying for the MCAT, don't know where I would without it. Although 25 dollars seems like a lot, it is most definitely worth it
  • One problem

Why does this not have the option to view the back of the card first in the mobile version? I will change my review when that is added. Otherwise, great app.
