App Reviews

  • This app rarely works reliably

    By loadsthencloses
When trying to watch directv on my iPad i consistently get error message about another device being connected or it’s not connected to the same Wi-Fi connection as my receiver and neither condition is ever true.
  • Guide has issues

    By Randy Settergren
The channel guide looses synchronization with the correct channel making it worthless. Used to work fine and was a good app.
  • Great app - super pushy unpleasant sales calls

    Title says it all
  • Constant Crashing

    By markchaffin
Can watch or download content without crashing. You’re better off reading a book when traveling than trying to get the app to work
  • Awful

    By Mattsbud
So buggy and slow it rarely works at all. If it does you're severely limited in what you can do. Don't think you can pause the TV and resume on your iPad. No, you get to start over and aren't allowed to fast forward to where you left off. This app is complete garbage.

We have been using DirecTV for many years, perhaps 25 years and they have been fantastic!
  • Crashes every time I try to download anything

So much fun to watch it crash every time I try to download a show. Spent an hour and ended up with nothing I could watch on my trip.
  • Guide and Watch/Record Issues

    By DabbleinApple
The guide is the biggest issue at this point. I have the latest iOS on my iPad Air2 and the latest version of the app. I have even deleted and reinstalled the app. The guide programming does not match, nor even line up with, the channel list. The only way that I can succeed in seeing what is on is to favorite the channel and use the favorite channel filtering (the heart symbol). Then, for some reason, the programming lines up and is correct for that specific channel. When I try to use the channel jump numbers that line the right edge of the screen, it takes me to an entirely different section of the guide. For instance, if I touch 500, I may end up in the 650 range. The other area is the record and watch options. First, all available options should be readily available without having to go to the “...” ‘more’ extended menu. Second, if I can watch and/or record on ANY device, I should have that ability to do so from my iPad...and without jumping through any hoops to make it happen. Another record issue is that when I am traveling, I don’t know if a program had already been recorded before. With a finite amount of disk storage, I don’t want to be recording a show I already have. A “watch” issue arises for those of us who are traveling. A traveler has no choice but to use an unsecure WiFi source. The only way we have to protect ourselves is to use a VPN. This app will either function intermittently or not at all while on the VPN. The only way to watch a show, then, is to expose our device to hacking by turning the VPN off. Not good these days. For me, at least, those issues are huge. Otherwise I would give the app at least 4 stars. If the controls were more intuitive and the print a bit easier to read with better color choices, I would then likely give it a 5 star rating. I like that you can set a program to record remotely and see what’s coming up. In fact, oddly enough, the app gives WAY more detail about who the actors are in a show than the DVR does. DirecTV just needs to focus on their own sales pitch of “take your TV with you” and make changes to the app that will allow us to do everything from the app that we can do at home.
  • Need Auto-tune

    By rkpain2
Need to be able to set a show for auto-tune along with record. Dish has it. You have it on your non-DVR boxes why not on you DVR boxes.
  • Not Working!

    By Basser1
Worked great until recently. Now it won’t show guide any further than six hours out. Also won’t record—says it is connected to Living Room receiver but when you try to record you get the message “no receiver found.”
