  • Great App - Excellent Customer Service

I bought the Standing Bear to Damascus section, and only AFTER I bought it did it show that the trail data wasn't available. So I (thought) that I had just paid $8.99 + tax for a map of the area I can download for free elsewhere. I emailed their customer service & received a response 5 minutes after I sent my request for assistance. There must have been a system glitch, as when I attempted yet again to download the trail data...Voila! It was there! I love having both a satellite view and an elevation view of the trail. Having the marked waypoints & comments are extremely helpful.
  • Invaluable tool

As someone who is already a fan of GPS-Map apps for hiking, Guthook's AT app is an invaluable addition to the e-toolkit. The comments alone are worth it as an online trail/shelter register with water source reports, etc. Excited to see this app develop further.👍
  • I wouldn't want to hike without it!

I just finished a 200 mile section from PenMar to Rockfish Gap. The app found me whatever I needed, whether it was distance to water, shelter or the top of an exhausting climb. I loved it and recommend it to any hiker on the AT. That said, if public comments didn't crash the app and refuse to post on or off line, the information would be a lot more current. The issue has been fixed now that I am off the trail.

I am an AT section hiker and used your App for the first time this year. The good: the ability to work off line, really needed on the trail. The maps are a little pricey for this ability. The easy ability to toggle GPS on/off thus conserving your battery Needs improvement: rendering can be slow if you are using GPS and trying to drive to an access road For future consideration: being a section hiker it would be good to have access road information. Similar to what you can find at This would allow for trail access. Also if you could similarly download the regular map directly from your app for the area you are navigating
  • What's missing

State lines and city access roads should be easily visible on the map and profile. I would like to be able to set the profile scale and have it remain until I change it. As it stands now the paper maps are a lot more useful and easier to use.
  • I was reluctant, but it's value has been proven

When I first saw the cost of the maps, I went no further. The ability to work in airplane mode, though, made the sale. Now, I have to restrict usage to only when needed to keep my mind on the trail.
