App Description

Go offline anywhere you want — offline vector maps and offline search for your better travel experience. Record your GPS tracks, bookmark your favorite locations and sync them between your devices. Offline Maps: • Unlimited – there is no limit on the number of countries/regions you can download. • Detailed and informative – because they based on data. • Up-to-date and accurate – we update them monthly. • Take up less space than others and work really fast – app uses GPUs in addition to CPUs to render vector maps. • Changeable size of labels – large labels on maps is extremely useful while driving. • Multiple languages support – map labels will be changed to the selected language immediately. Offline Search: • Incredible fast – results appear instantly as you type. • It works in variety of ways – by object name, category or even by GPS coordinates. • It finds objects in multiple languages – this will make your searching much easier than ever. • No internet connection required. Geo data syncing: • iCloud and Dropbox sync supported. • Any number of devices could sync simultaneously. GPS Tracks Recording: • Record your trips and export them as KML/GPX files. • Monitor your real-time speed, distance and time traveled, as well as altitude right on the map during the trip. • Beautiful gradients to visualise altitude and speed changes. Bookmarks on the Map: • Mark your favorite places on your maps and set points of interest for your next trip. • Choose from lots of icons to assign to bookmarks. • Store your bookmarks and GPS tracks in separate collections for a quick access. Sharing Your Geodata: • Share your itineraries from the app via Mail, Facebook and Twitter. • Export them in the most common formats: KML & GPX. Backing Up Your Data: • Back up your collections to have the copy of data that may be lost or deleted by mistake. • Restore data to your device from the backup you created earlier in one tap. • Transfer backuped data to another iOS device or app Offline Maps Import: • Import previously created custom offline maps in .sqlitedb or .mbtiles format (use Mobile Atlas Creator, TileMill or SAS.Planet to generate offline maps). And even more: • Custom map sources support (including multi-layer sources) • Different coordinate formats (including MGRS) • Importing KML/GPX files into the app • GPS filtering (accuracy and distance threshold) • Bearing line to bookmark • One finger zooming • Measuring distance between two points on the map Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. App Reviews

  • Disappointing, even on sale

    By the OS og
Terrible when compared to similar competitor. Streets without names. The way names of streets are presented when zoomed in is poor. What a shame. From the pics in the App Store and website this seemed to be a visually appealing navigation app, but in real world use it is sub par. A map that doesn’t give proper visuals is a? Hey, maybe this just isn’t for the Great Lakes region of the United States.

  • Tracks anywhere, even without wifi.

    By mr jimz
I use it on my iPad in very rural areas. My iPad is not on a cellular network yet I can track my position, speed, elevation and lat/long. I even tracked myself on a plane going 300 mph. I tracked myself on a 4 day hiking trip in the mountains. I wish I knew how they can do it, but it works great. One improvement would be to change the color of roads and highways and trails to make them easier to follow.
  • Extremely powerful but easy-to-use and intuitive

I have been using this on a long trip through rural Oregon. The ability to see your location on a map when you're offline is only the beginning. Altitude is handy. I used it to track my location while traveling obscure roads and now I will be able to retrace that route. There are many other features which I am just starting to explore with the help of the well-written user's manual.
  • Great GPX logger, compact OSM maps

    By thwarte
Since the late 1990's l've used various handheld GPS loggers, usually Garmin, for weekly hikes around the region and far afield. Galileo is the first app good enough to use a phone instead, for all except extreme or multi-day outings (where a phone is too fragile for dependability). It records GPS logs with basic statistics and has a good-enough filing system to accumulate and organize logs and waypoints. Logs are overlaid on its maps and can be color-coded by relative elevation or speed. It can't generate separate altitude profiles, unfortunately. Logs can be transferred off-phone using Galileo's cloud, or e-mailed directly by export once saved inside the app as a GPX or KML file. The maps are the usual set of OSM choices, some with topo lines and/or shading, and lots of labels. The maps are compact because they're in vector format rather than bit-maps. So one can download an entire large state like CA - or a region - in just a 32GB Phone. Maps for most of the world are available. Battery usage while recording is minimal, a full day uses less than half the charge in my iPhone 6s unless I'm constantly checking the map.
  • Top performer

    By Santiago the Weatherman
Galileo Pro has evolved from a good working offline map .. to a really stellar performer. It's under constant development so the features keep getting better while the maps take up the least space imaginable. It's also one of only two apps on the market that imports and exports GPX files correctly. I have walked well over 1000 kilometers in Spain using this app. Get it!
  • Useless

a mapping program that won't look up a street address is useless
  • Crashing after last update

    By Dejan BL
Overall great app and I use it on daily basis but since last update It keeps crashing every few minutes while recording route, to be specific it interrupted my mission route recording 8 times in 1.5hrs. Please fix it and review goes back to 5*.
  • New version Crashes - fixed
