I am on about the 10th fix.... and it is taking forever! I have also been paying for premium for months (4+) and I can't get the paid version to work. Trying one more time since my daughters phone became impaired (again) - there are a LOT of steps! And there is no guarantee it'll work. Good concept- poor execution. So frustrating!!! ((Currently spooling 20+minutes))

After reading on-line reviews, I attempted to purchase the premium option because I believed that it would allow my daughter's folders and game progress to be saved. Somehow the premium option did not get applied to my account. Not only did we lose my daughter's folders and game progress, but all of her photos and contacts are missing as well. The back up I made before starting the application was overwritten during the installation process. No one is happy in my house tonight.

This app is for parents who are too watchful, Who ever does this is a very devilish person never do this to your child. You have to gain their trust to have them do so Make them a promise if they wake up the get good breakfast or something. Just not this. I have school but this makes it so much harder for me when ever were trying to do work online. Just dont do this only if it is a last chance to force your child to do better. Hey if your a kid get this on your moms or dads phone and lock them out until they say theyll never use it and make sure every night u turn off appstore and safari!
  • Unstable - requires a CONSTANT wifi connection

I dumped the Verizon Family Base for OurPact because Family Base on an iPhone only allows blocking on cellular. On wifi, the kids can text on iMessage as much as they want during class, since iMessage is proprietary to Apple, and can't be controlled by a 3rd party app. So that was worthless. I liked OurPact at first, and was thrilled when they added the family locator, just as my son began driving, but without a CONSTANT WIFI CONNECTION (Um, there's no such thing), the app doesn't work. The kids don't have a CONSTANT wifi connection or, cellular service, in all areas at school due to the concrete building structure. Most of the kids have found a way around this by downloading a VPN app, like HotSpotVPN, but if a VPN app is enabled on your child's phone, OurPact WILL NOT WORK. I found that out the hard way, after many frustrating days of troubleshooting why the OurPact schedule would not work. We also have terrible wifi upstairs in our home, since the modem & router are downstairs. I'm contemplating updating to Google Wifi to fix that problem. It replaces your single router with multiple “points,” giving you full coverage throughout your home. As it stands today, I have to remind my son every morning before he leaves home, and every afternoon when he's out of school, to restart the OurPact app, to reestablish the connection, so the features will work again. You can imagine the eye rolls and the looks of "you don't trust me" I get 2x a day, EVERYDAY. It's put a strain on my relationship with my son, but at the end of the day I am his parent, and not his friend. Having OurPact was never about control, but about teaching my son that school hours are for learning, and if your friends are texting you upwards of 400+ times a day in a group iMessage, you can't be concentrating in class. It was also about peace of mind of knowing that my teen, new to driving, made it safely to his destination, or checking to see if he's running late from after school extracurricular activities, giving me a little extra time to run an errand or cook a meal instead of picking up take out...you know, the little things in this ever-growing, hectic world created by the smartphone . But if I forget to remind him to restart the OurPact app for a couple of days, the pin on Family Locator feature doesn't move, and displays a message that "the location has not been updated for 48 hours". Why it takes 48 hours to find that out is beyond me. How about a push notification that says, "your child has lost connection with our server due to lack of a stable wifi connection" as soon as the connection is lost, not 48 hours later! Heck, send a similar notification to the child so the app can notify them of the lost connection, reminding them they need to "restart OurPact, otherwise access to your phone's features may be restricted." In the child's mind, this would place the blame on OurPact, and not the parent, and would certainly go a long way to the improving the parent/teen relationship over the use of parental control apps! On the plus side, we've received fewer "missing assignment" messages from the PowerSchool app that keeps us up-to-date on our son's grades and assignments, as the teachers enter them into the district system. I attribute that to the app blocking feature of OurPact, that allows me to block all unnecessary apps unrelated to school, i.e. Snapchat, Instagram, etc., that would distract him during school hours. In conclusion, the app is just ok. It does some things well, but has a long way to go before being considered the total solution it claims to be. Until they can produce a stable app, OurPact should strongly consider cutting the monthly cost of the app in half. It's just not worth $4.99 month since it can only deliver on a small portion of its features.
  • Kids can easily unpair their device

The app is great. However, my kids were able to unpair their iPhones by going to Settings->General->Device Management. Then, remove the profile. Once the profile is removed, the phone is back to normal.

The premium subscription doesn’t even work. You have to download some protection on the phone from a computer, backup phone, and restore. Well, it won’t restore because it tells me there’s not enough space when this phone (6) has over 24GB of free space! Straight garbage. BUT, the free and cheaper subscription works great. Great app and control. However I want to control more and it won’t work.

I noticed that during the week at bedtime my daughter (who is 11) and I would go to bed at the same time. She would be sleep initially, during a late night bathroom run I would check on her and sometimes she would be awake on her phone complaining of not being able to sleep. So I decided to try this app and I no longer worry about her being up on her phone at odd times of the night. It has been a big help for us. I have no complaints! 😊

I would have given this app a better rating but my child can still remove this profile whenever he wants to. I would like a feature to be added to password protect the MDM profile
