App Reviews

  • Excellent design, ease of use, helpful features and regular updates!

    By CamNYC78
First, there’s the design that welcomes you into a much reader friendly version of Wikipedia. Secondly, its ease of use and the accessibility of its safari extension makes sure it’s quick to call it to task the moment my browsing leads me to a wikipedia page. And last but not least, its bookmarking, history, and ease of switching languages on the same entry have all made my Wikipedia reading more productive and pleasant. I’ve been compelled to write this review not by any kind of annoying app request (which as far as I remember this app hasn’t made), but simply out of genuine satisfaction and delight. I’ve purchased it a while back when it was featured by Apple’s App Store, since it was cheap and I’m an avid Wikipedia user/reader. Since then, it’s consistently been one of my most used apps, and one of those little apps that could, from an attentive developer who never fails to update and support the app. And that at no other charge, which at this day and age is a breath of fresh air. That’s another reason I’m writing this, as I hope this app continues to be downloaded and enjoyed by many more users, to their own delight and to the developers’ reward.
  • Great Wikipedia client

    By Jessica Lares
In my opinion, V for Wiki is the best third-party Wikipedia client on the App Store. Great typography/color scheme, nice handling of template tags and tables, and just very nice to browse through in general.
  • Please change off gray background

To jsut white it looks weird and please stop showing searches in history, that should I not show articles not searches
  • Excellent app for wiki

This is one of the most well designed app in the AppStore. Love it. I wish it was cheaper though.
  • Makes Wikipedia not tedious

    By tedgo
I really enjoy this. Wikipedia has many issues with truth and correctness. Subjects I know well are sometimes simply wrong here. But for some large areas I am fine with staying in Wikipedia and this app is great because using Google is a mess. On my iPhone 6 the sizes are just right. I do recommend it. I wish I could use this with other knowledge sources, like science magazine.
  • A comparison of V for Wiki vs. the Free Wikipedia app

    By Treyjones3333
UPDATE: I found out that this issue is explained on the developer's website. They explained why articles don't automatically open in V after searching in Spotlight. Result: Five stars! V for Wiki needs to integrate better with Safari. Apple's probably not to blame because the FEEE WIKIPEDIA APP OPENS ANY LINKS ASSOCIATED WITH WIKIPEDIA.ORG IN ITS APP. The V for Wiki app does not. However, the Wikipedia app lacks the beautiful formatting, design, and page layout of V for Wiki. The background color of the pages for V for Wiki are black which helps readability. You can't change the background of the pages or theme for the FREE Wikipedia app. : I changed my reviewer nickname to my real name. In addition, I was previously confusing Spotlight search with iOS Safari's Quick Search function. The developers, Raureif, explains why V for Wiki does not integrate with both Spotlight and Safari's Quick Search.
